Leather Seat Discoloration From Dye Transfer

February 2, 2026

The Issue:

Dark dye transfer from:

  • Clothing (jeans, dark fabric)
  • A bag or item left against the seat

The pigment has penetrated into the leather, especially along the bolster and perforated panel

You can see irregular edges and deep saturation, which indicates absorption, not surface dirt

In The Process

Because the leather was still in good condition, we were able to fix the dye transfer through recoloring. The process involved three key stages: thorough cleaning, removing the old top coat for better bonding, and applying a custom-matched leather pigment

Final Result:

As you can see, the dark dye transfer has been completely eliminated. The finish is now perfectly consistent with the rest of the interior, leaving no trace of the previous staining.
