This iconic Red Chesterfield Sofa arrived in our studio requiring a complete aesthetic and structural refresh. The original bright red leather had developed deep, unsightly cracks and widespread surface wear from years of use. The client’s primary request was a dramatic transformation: to move away from the vivid red in favor of a richer, darker, and more sophisticated tone. The challenge was to thoroughly repair the compromised leather surface while ensuring the new, darker pigment adhered perfectly to the deep button-tufting and intricate folds characteristic of the Chesterfield style
The Result:
We achieved a stunning transformation that combined durability with a high-end finish. The restoration began with a deep cleaning and the application of a professional-grade leather compound to seamlessly fill the cracks and stabilize the surface. Once the leather was smooth, we applied a new dark color coat, custom-blended to meet the client’s preference for a moodier, more elegant palette. To ensure the new finish withstands daily use, we finished the sofa with a premium protective top coat, providing a beautiful sheen and a resilient barrier against future wear. The result is a sofa that looks brand new while retaining its classic vintage charm.
