Vinyl Seat Damage

February 2, 2026

The Issue:

The vinyl upholstery on the interior door armrest assembly suffered a sharp puncture and material loss. Because this area is a high-touch point used every time the door is closed, the tear was not only a significant eyesore but also prone to further peeling and catching on clothing. The damage exposed the underlying yellow substrate, requiring a structural restoration rather than just a simple cleaning.

In The Process

Restoring this specific component required a precision-based approach to match the surrounding factory finish:

  • Structural Filling: We applied a specialized heat-cured compound into the puncture. This material bonds chemically with the vinyl under controlled heat to create a strong, flexible foundation.

  • Texture Recreation: Before the compound fully set, we manually recreated the grain texture. This ensures the repaired spot reflects light the same way as the original leatherette, making the patch invisible.

  • Custom Recoloring: Finally, we performed a precision recoloring using a custom-matched pigment to perfectly align with the door’s specific interior shade and matte finish.

Final Result:

The door armrest restored to its original factory condition. The puncture is completely neutralized, and the texture is so seamless that the repair site is indistinguishable from the rest of the panel. By using durable, heat-cured materials, we’ve ensured the handle is ready for daily use while fully preserving the vehicle’s interior aesthetics.
